I'm already working on my stand alone sight. I had tunnel vision for a while and knew that putting all my eggs in one basket was probably not the wisest step, especially since it was not my very own. As a vintage seller amongst 1,000's of vintage sellers I realized I need to spread myself to get known. It was nice reading this article because it confirms even more that I am moving in the right direction!

Hi there, I just wanted to follow up and answer some of the questions. I agree with Elizabeth - it is a lot of hard work to even get found on Etsy.com, so I always thought it made more sense to work on SEO and social amplification for my website.

For SEO, make sure your blog, your store, everything is actually HOSTED on your website. Even if your blog/shopping cart looks as though it's all on your site, it might not be. Google looks for quality, consistency, relevance and breadth in posts. If you know a little SEO, optimize everything - at least plug in a good title, meta description and h1s. You should be able to get into the meta data. Here are a few articles you might like: http://www.indiemade.com/category/resource/marketing
